Task


The Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA) program is developing a Vehicle Standard Operating Environment (VSOE) to provide a standardised operating system between computing hardware and mission applications. This environment is intended to allow the hosting of multiple applications on shared computing infrastructure with appropriate isolation.


Scope of Task


The role is primarily focused on developing the requirements and interface specifications for the VSOE, as part of the overall GVA Program. As a secondary role the successful candidate will provide systems engineering support to LNIC engineering management and other projects.

The role requires the successful candidate to ensure requirements are sufficiently decomposed and can be tested and also develop engineering reports, specification and design documents within the agreed architecture and design policies in order to satisfy Army’s requirements. Interstate or international travel may be required.


Deliverables

  • Develop requirements and interface specifications based upon Defence needs;

  • Develop engineering reports, specification and design documents;

  • Participate in workshops to elicit requirements for ICT elements of the solution;

  • Support development team in translating requirements to the solution and prototyping activities;

  • Work with the Test and Evaluation Specialist to ensure requirements are sufficiently decomposed and can be tested;

  • Provide systems engineering support to other LNIC initiatives, and;

  • Provide other services as tasked the SO2 Land Combat System Architecture.

Desirable Experience

  • A Bachelor degree (or higher) in Communications Engineering or Engineering Degree suitable to achieve membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia in relevant Communications or Electronics related field.

  • Extensive (greater than 8 years) experience in Communications and Systems Engineering, preferably with secure communications networks in the Defence Sector or Defence Industry.

  • Understanding of TRAMM (L).

  • Experience in Software development projects.

You will report directly to the Generic Systems Architectures Project Manager in order to achieve the required deliverables and the LNIC Chief Engineer for engineering matters.
