Accounts Processing Officers - Senior & Junior

  • Initially, a 12 month contract to 30 June 2020, with the option to extend by another 2 x 12 months at the APO's discretion.


Junior Accounts Processing Officer


As a Junior Accounts Processing Officer, you will be working within a team and on a rotational basis:

  • Process accounts payable invoices via multiple finance systems in accordance with legislation and Departmental policy;

  • Process accounts receivable invoices in accordance with legislation and Departmental policy;

  • Monitor multiple group email accounts and action or assign tasks as required;

  • Prepare simple reports at month end;

  • Coordinate Divisional tasking as required;

  • Provide accurate guidance/advice in accordance with established legislation, principles and guidelines in relation to accounts processing and simple divisional coordination responsibilities;

  • Assist in improving data quality through maintaining a consistent approach to data entry, maintaining comprehensive, clear and up to date procedures and identifying process improvements;

  • Liaise regularly with key stakeholders and demonstrate behaviour consistent with maintaining a customer focused culture within the work area;

  • Provide support and backup to other staff within the section; and

  • Other duties as required.

Senior Accounts Processing Officer


As a Senior Accounts Processing Officer, your duties will also include (in addition to the above):

  • Monitor and maintain financial commitments within FMIS and provide advice to assist in compliance with policies and procedures;

  • Generate and analyse reports at month end;

  • Accurately prepare and input end of month accruals for contract staff into FMIS;

  • Maintain a portable and attractive items register for the APO central office;

  • Undertake stocktake for reportable and non-reportable assets as required; and

  • Monitor stationery requirements for the division

What experience do I need to have to perform this role?


The Junior Accounts Processing Officer will have the following skills, experience and/or qualifications required to perform the role:


  • Experience in data entry and processing accounts payable/receivable

  • Experienced in utilising and manipulating MS Excel Spreadsheets;

  • Strong written communication skills, and an ability to liaise with a wide range of audiences;

  • Ability to work in an ever changing work environment; and

  • Experience with SAP financial and travel system (desirable).

As a Senior Accounts Processing Officer, in addition to those listed above, you will have experience in the management of purchase orders and organisational financial commitments.
