The Department of Agriculture, Water & the Environment are recruiting PROJECT MANAGERS & PROJECT SUPPORT OFFICERS.

LOCATIONS*: Australian Capital Territory | New South Wales | Queensland | Victoria


*Positions are based in Canberra, however remote working may be considered for the right candidate, depending on the project requirements. Should remote working be approved, there may be a requirement to travel to CBR on occasion.

PROJECT MANAGERS - Detailed Description | MULTIPLE POSITIONS

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) has a requirement for multiple ICT Project Managers to manage the delivery of upcoming or inflight projects within the Information Services Division (ISD).

ISD is responsible for enabling information and communication technology (ICT) functions and activities for DAWE. The division provides a secure, modern ICT environment so that the department can conduct its business 24/7 and focus on achieving departmental outcomes.

 

The successful candidates will:

  • Guide in the delivery of departmental projects following the departments project management methodologies (eg Prince2, Agile, SAFe, Hybrid)

  • Provide leadership to the project team/s and individuals in delivering to departmental projects

  • Undertake project governance, including, but not limited to: o scheduling o weekly reporting o documentation of risks and issues o financial reporting o project presentation.

  • Manage scope, budget, and delivery in line with the project plan

  • Provide delivery capability across the broader programs of work as directed by the department and/or the ISD Project Management Office.

Candidates will require skills and experience in:

  • the successful management and delivery of ICT related projects and/or large corporate ICT transformation programs, with the ability to adapt to, and work across agile and waterfall methodologies,

  • managing technical teams and partnering with multiple vendors to deliver outcomes under tight timeframes,

  • preparing reports, artefacts and documentation for Project Boards, Senior Executives, or other Governance bodies,

  • organisational and communication skills to engage and manage senior stakeholders,

  • presenting information and communicating expectations across conflicting priorities/workloads and a challenging environment, and

  • working under pressure with close attention to detail, organising priorities and meeting deadlines.

PROJECT SUPPORT OFFICERS - Detailed Description | MULTIPLE POSITIONS

The Information Services Division (ISD) at the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) is looking for Project Support Officers to provide diverse administrative and IT related project support tasks to specified projects aimed at modernizing the Department's IT landscape. ISD is responsible for the management and delivery of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) functions and activities across Australia and overseas for the department. The division provides a secure, modern ICT environment so that the department can conduct its business 24/7 and focus on achieving departmental outcomes.

 

The successful candidates will:

  • Work with the project teams to administer and coordinate a range of activities and act as a point of contact for stakeholders to ensure clear timely and effective communication and coordination

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with technical professionals, team members and stakeholders

  • Assist in the production of project status reports and artefacts throughout the project lifecycle to meet expected business outcomes, schedules, costs and quality criteria

  • Identify and manage changes to projects in accordance with established processes and standards and manage information flows across projects

  • Implement work plans, setting tasks and priorities to implement project, program and operational outcomes, changes and enhancements; ensuring resource availability and allocation

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of projects using the department's project management frameworks and product development approaches e.g. Prince2, MSP and Agile

  • Provide Secretariat support for Working Groups and Steering Committees

  • Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by the Project Manager and/or Project Management Office.
