Job Description


The Project Engineering Lead (PEL) shall provide engineering management and oversight over requirements for engineering, design management, integration engineering, verification and validation, and technical certification.


The PEL will lead and manage the team of engineers across the PMO and Phase 4 capability elements; coordinating and prioritising their work across multiple engineering disciplines. The PEL and engineers are to assist the capability elements and projects as required to acquire, integrate and transition the various CIED systems into sustainment.


KEY TASKS

  • Conduct engineering management;

  • Resource management of a multi-disciplined team of engineers;

  • Chair meetings, working groups and mandated systems reviews;

  • Oversee developmental design activities;

  • Oversee acceptance test and evaluation activities; and

  • Manage Technical Certification.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


The role is for a professional engineer holding at least a 4 year engineering degree recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia, with practical experience and ability to manage, coordinate and delegate engineering activities in Defence acquisition and sustainment environments.


The role is minimum skill Level 3 (Advanced Practitioner)


Essential: Technical Authority Level 5 and experienced Engineering Lead/Manager

  • Demonstrated recent Project Engineering Lead/Management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple, multi-disciplined engineering staff (at least 2 or more).

  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering lead/management experience.

  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering qualifications or experience. 4 year engineering degree recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia.

  • A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, preferably with a solid understanding of the Land Technical Regulatory Framework.

  • Experience and have had past training using DOORs.

Desirable: Level 6 (Registered Professional Engineer)

  • Must comply with the Technical Authority level 5 and management requirements stated above.

  • Must be a Charted Professional Engineer through Engineers Australia

  • Must have at least 3 years of recent "relevant experience" within land domain. (recent experience is at least 3 out of the last 5 years)
